constructive and destructive

Our environment is remnants of what once was, our recession has lasted longer than our very own lifetimes, our creation of machine has been one of powerful but yet dispensable desire.

Our environments have been landscapes in decline, our minds have been shown an erratic yet productive desire to to grow. Our influence has been drawn from great decline, great depression, great power that once was, and an irreversable desire for bigger and better things.

Our technological improvement has came from sacrifice and neglect. Our technological advancement has been laden with waste.

This waste is what we, our generation, use for our new ventures. In a world facing forward, we are the ones who stop to look, turn our back on the world ahead, and pick up the pieces of our lives that once was.

Our music and our art forms are products of our waste, products of our broken pieces and broken lives. It is more powerful than our fellow race can handle. It is more productive than intuitive ideas, and all we use is grime, rubble and organic elements.

Let our music be products of our environment, an organic lifeform which can evolve it's very self, without promotion or hard selling, and make it's own influence through the word of the underground.

The time has come for change

I have watched, waited, hoped, debated, objected, listened, contested, involved and considered enough. There is no more room for 'possible' involvement and considerate objection. The society which has determined our flow of life has became crooked, bent and corrupt. No more can I stand for the abuse of power and delay of reason for which we are enthused to place our trust in. Our places of governance, worship and solidarity have lost touch with the very people it swore itself to protect. Our places in society have became so bleak and white washed that we don't know where we stand anymore, we don't know who to trust and what to believe. Our lives have became such a mock existence, that we fade away not knowing who we really are or what we do..we're fighting ourselves and not our tormentors.

Our place in history is not in our fame, wealth or glory; nor is it even in our namesake. We fail to realise even every day that there is another human being, with infinite powers of thought standing right next to us, capable of supporting our needs and ambitions. We ask the question of whether we are alone; if anything survives beyond the realm of human perception and reason when we can't even look into someone's eyes and realise our own power so abundant in our numbers.

We cannot stand alone any more. We cannot cower in fear of our apparent limited resource when we ourselves are an infinite power. We ourselves are a mechanism to power any change. We.

Our institutions have played games with our lives, thoughts and money for too long. Their crimes have been of that against humanity, in whatever scale or degree measureable. From the top to the bottom they must be changed, and change is something we will do.

Our numbers will count.

extraKt ~ makaton theory

Extrakt is a collection of your world around you, it is you, it is your mind, it is your body, spirit and soul. It is in everything you see, in the fashion industry, in TV shows, in food and in design. You create/say or do is an extrakt of your nurtured life....it's in your mannerisms, your dialect, your look, your beliefs, your morals and your music. You're an extrakt of you existence.

Makaton: is a system of communication that uses a vocabulary of 'key word' manual signs and gestures to support speech, as well as graphic symbols to support the written word. It it used by and with people who have communication, language or learning difficulties.

Techno is designed the same way a chair is to seat you, without the right angled shape of the pedestal and backrest, who makes the rules for you to have an upright posture? When you 'feel' techno, it is mapped to certain parts of your body in many distinct ways. The bass can affect your feet, defining your rate of movement through the BPM..as we grow older our normal heart rate reduces:

150 BPM at 3 months old
135 BPM at 6 months old
100 BPM at 3 years old and so on....

Between averages of 120 and 145 BPM, the music you listen to can directly control your heart rate..for all those long hours spent in dirty warehouses and at the back of arches, your body finds itself reverting back to those first few years of life where the only option was to keep up and build out.
Your shoulders can be mapped to the mid range or melodic areas of the music, the anatomy is controlled in a swaying motion defined by the acidic basslines or melodic riffs.
Head and hands can be controlled by the hi-hats, shaking like maracas when the 16th hats come in.

The body is just as important as the imaginative process when writing music, you can ask many musicians (especially jazz or 'improv' artists) that the music truly flows when you and your body feels it.

The makaton technique helps fill in the important gaps in conversation and dialogue, breaking barriers and continuing a steady flow, much in the same way it does for music. What this does mean for techno is that it has a flow, it has a restriction, much like a river meanders, it has a pattern that adheres to our normal anatomy and genetic makeup....a monotonous progression of noise affecting specific parts of your body. You can draw your own conclusions on this whether relating it to the need for rhythm hence making it difficult to change, or whether it's too difficult to create something with the body or mind alone. But consider music as a 2D form, controlled by narrow imagination and a repetitive physical form.

Richard James once remarked when asked to edit a track for radio. that it was like 'removing a limb from one my children.'

These are our creations, and its time to look beyond our limitations.

First blog to be entered!!

Hey hey!!

This is my first ever blog entered using the Blogger site. I'm going to use this blog to keep a personal record of my volunteering activities day to day. Hopefully we'll see if it's possible to upload a blog through my phone, so we'll get some on the job reports of the volunteering!!..and possibly a rather annoyed weather report in the process.

=)
